Validation Lab Manager

We’re looking for a highly skilled Validation Lab Manager to join Curtiss-Wright Williams Controls. As Validation Lab Manager, you will lead and manage our product validation lab.

The ideal candidate will ensure our lab operates in full compliance with IATF 16949 standards, delivering high-quality and accurate testing programs for our vehicle control systems. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in environmental and endurance testing, and a deep understanding of both industry standards and customer-specific requirements.

Your Challenge:

  • Lead and maintain the validation labs in Portland OR and Arlington Heights IL (on site in Portland OR)
  • Plan, conduct, and report results from environmental, endurance, and safety tests with high accuracy.
  • Interpret and execute test requirements based on ISO, IEC, ASTM, UL, CSA, and customer specifications.
  • Convert incoming test requests into detailed test schedules and provide cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers to prioritize testing activities and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Oversee the calibration and maintenance of all test equipment, maintaining compliance with applicable standards.
  • Investigate customer returns to determine failure modes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and supervise junior lab personnel in conducting tests and preparing reports for OEM clients.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects, including test automation, resulting in measurable gains in lab productivity.
  • Support global operations by coordinating with Curtiss-Wright manufacturing sites for test program execution.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
  • 8+ years of experience in product validation, testing, or quality engineering, preferably in the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or lab management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of IATF 16949 standards and quality system compliance.
  • Experience interpreting and applying test standards such as ISO, IEC, ASTM, UL, and CSA.
  • Familiarity with OEM customer specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, manage lab schedules, and oversee testing operations.
  • Strong skills in failure analysis, root cause identification, and technical reporting.
  • Experience managing a calibration program for test equipment.
  • Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives, such as test automation or process optimization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with global teams and support cross-functional projects.
