We are seeking a Principle Engineer, Sensors (Accelerometer & Vibration) to provide global cross-functional technical leadership in the development, integration, and validation of advanced sensing solutions. This role requires a customer-centric mindset, driving technical excellence and innovation while collaborating with international teams, customers, and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MEMS accelerometers, vibration sensing, and signal processing and will act as a bridge between engineering, customers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet market demands.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities

Global Technical Leadership

  • Drive the development of next-generation accelerometer and vibration sensor solutions by providing technical leadership and expertise within global cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure seamless sensor integration.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers across multiple disciplines and locations.
  • Act as the key technical interface between engineering, product management, and global suppliers to align product development with business objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices in sensor design, validation, and manufacturing.

Customer-Centric Innovation & Support

  • Work closely with customers and OEMs to understand application requirements and tailor sensor solutions to their needs.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing expertise in accelerometer and vibration sensing applications.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers, offering design recommendations, troubleshooting, and performance optimizations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by collecting customer feedback and integrating insights into future sensor designs.
  • Develop application notes, technical documentation, and training materials to support customer adoption.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagements and business pursuits.

Product Development & Validation

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of accelerometer and vibration sensor technologies, from concept to production.
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA activities to ensure robust product development.
  • Work with global test labs and validation teams to conduct sensor performance characterization, including:
    • Vibration analysis (FFT, modal analysis, shock testing)
    • Environmental stress testing (thermal cycling, humidity, EMI/EMC compliance)
    • Sensor calibration and compensation algorithms
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT) initiatives.

Industry Trends & Strategic Growth

  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in MEMS accelerometers, AI-driven vibration sensing, and predictive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and business development to identify new market opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, customer workshops, and technical symposiums.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating new materials, architectures, and sensor fusion techniques.
  • Own technology roadmap based on market trends, and product roadmap.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in the development Sensors preferred in Automotive Environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor a diverse engineering team.
  • Good knowledge of automotive development processes including V-Model and agile methods
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with eco-system partners
  • Goal oriented, structured, diligent and independent work ethic
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree
  • 5+ years product design and/or application experience in Sensors
  • Accelerometer based development and application experience

Preferred Education & Work Experience

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree
  • 8+ years product design experience in Automotive Sensors
  • Accelerometer and/or Current Sensor based development and application experience
