The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of all conveyor line equipment and minor building maintenance at the Atlanta distribution site. These duties include conveyor equipment preventative maintenance and repair, managing the equipment spare parts inventory, and performing general maintenance duties throughout the facility.

This role will interface with all internal site departments and manage outside contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely.

Let’s talk about Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of motor driven roller (MDR) and line shaft conveyor systems that utilize belts, motors, o-rings, scanners, printers, and all supporting equipment
  • Utilize warehouse management system (WMS) during routine conveyor maintenance and to optimize product flow between transfer and diverts, adjust photo-eyes to clear jams, monitor conveyor performance and print and apply automation.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage and schedule all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly work assignments.
  • Follow site lock-out, tag out safety policies during repairs and preventative maintenance process.
  • Performs preventative and predictive maintenance for all distribution center conveyor system automation and supporting equipment.
  • Manages equipment spare parts inventory to ensure all recommended spare parts are onsite when repairs are needed.
  • Assists with directing site contractor services and PM’s, including HVAC, generator, air compressor, sprinkler systems, fire risers, fire extinguisher inspections, electrical maintenance, dock door and leveler maintenance, pest control, janitorial, and other supporting site equipment and services.
  • Assists safety team in executing site health & safety initiatives to comply with site goals and objectives. Identifies, reports, and corrects any safety hazards observed.
  • Conduct weekly inspections to identify and correct issues that need repair and service.
  • Monitor all site electrical, mechanical, lighting, & plumbing systems. Schedule service provider response and repair as needed
  • Perform minor building maintenance as needed.
  • Manages Materials Handling Equipment (forklift, pallet jack) inspections, PM scheduling, monitor, report, and schedule repairs any MHE issue that need to be addressed
  • Helps manage forklift and pedestrian traffic flow and safety management, including stop sign, forklift lane, and pedestrian lane safety visuals
  • Partners with conveyor WMS software provider and IT to resolve conveyor system automation issues as needed.
  • Help drive lean manufacturing principles throughout the facility using continuous improvement and 5S methodology.

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent technical and operational knowledge of conveyor system automation and supporting equipment systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot conveyor system automation and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in a high-volume distribution center
  • Must be proficient in pneumatics and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB), diagrams, and electrical circuitry drawings.
  • PC and Microsoft Office application proficiency required to manage daily activities using CMMS and WMS software.

Required

  • High School diploma
  • Conveyor system equipment repair and preventative maintenance experience
  • Strong aptitude for using the required tools needed to make equipment repairs
  • Basic understanding of blueprints and schematics and able to troubleshoot/analyze problems
  • Previous experience in a related position, preferably in a distribution center or equipment maintenance environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that lead to positive teamwork with all departments, vendors, and contractors
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail, and self-management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Positive mental attitude, dependable, dedicated, and strong work ethic
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement and business excellence
  • Able to train and mentor other team members on equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Able to provide “on-call” coverage outside of normal shift hours and respond to site if needed to support DC operations
  • Technical vocational training OR bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, facilities / plant management OR equivalent equipment and building maintenance experience in the field
  • Working knowledge of automation systems using WMS & CMMS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and single-man lift experience
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs

Job Environment:

Distribution warehouse environment. Applicant will walk and occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 40lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
