How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

As an R&D Engineer onsite at our Shakopee, MN facility, you will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and release new outside plant fiber optical cable assemblies and connectivity products, as well as enhancing existing products. Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in multiple product development and cost reduction team efforts. Meets project targets and deadlines.
  • Create innovative designs of new components and assemblies through knowledge & experience in fiber optic products and technical principles.
  • Create 3D model and 2D drawing on the designs and release them through the CMO process in the SAP system.
  • Create product performance and testing requirements through knowledge & experience with relevant industry standards for fiber optic products.
  • Work with Manufacturing on process development and introductions of new products into Manufacturing through knowledge & experience in fiber optic manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Support the optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic products, with knowledge & experience in lab testing equipment and procedures, and perform failure analysis in case of nonconformance.
  • Perform data analysis and evaluation. Independently analyzes and solves well-defined problems with little direction/supervision.
  • Project Management of specific elements of small-sized projects.
  • Generate a Record of Inventions for innovations and pursue intellectual property protection.
  • Collaboration with current staff, which includes other engineers and technicians, in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other STEM focus
  • CREO 3D modeling and 2D drawing experience.
  • Able to be on-site in our Shakopee, MN office five days a week

  • Solid communication skills, including excellent writing skills.

  • Ability to deliver technical improvements to existing products/processes/services where feasible, resulting in cost reductions or quality improvement.

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. The expected salary range for this position is $69,700- $87,100.

The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including, medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
