The State Business Development Manager – QLD is a key sales leader responsible for driving net new customer acquisition across the Queensland mid-market segment (20–499 employees). Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this role partners closely with channel Partners to co-sell complex ICT and telecommunications solutions tailored to evolving business needs.
You’ll be at the forefront of new business development—prospecting high-value customers, coaching Partners, and translating business requirements into strategic, whole-of-business solutions. You’ll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead the full sales lifecycle, from initial engagement through to commercial close, ensuring seamless handover to Account Managers for long-term success.
Success in this role requires commercial acumen, strong ICT sales capability, and a passion for building trusted relationships. Your ability to co-sell with Partners, tailor value propositions, and manage a high-quality pipeline will be critical to delivering acquisition results and elevating Optus’ presence in the QLD market.
Your day in the life at Optus
- Generating high-value opportunities and building a strong pipeline of new mid-market customers in Queensland through proactive outreach and co-selling with channel Partners.
- Coaching Partners on how to position Optus’ value proposition and execute territory sales plans with consistency and commercial impact.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and technical experts to scope and deliver complex ICT and telco solutions aligned to customer needs.
- Leading the end-to-end sales process—including discovery, solution mapping, proposal development, and deal closure.
- Maintaining CRM accuracy, reporting pipeline health, and contributing to business reviews with senior leadership.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to customers and Partners, deepening strategic relationships and uncovering cross-sell opportunities.
Your skills to pay the bills
- 10+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, with a proven ability to sell complex ICT and telecommunications solutions.
- Previous success in mid-market sales (20–499 FTE), with deep understanding of customer buying behaviors and pain points.
- Strong experience in channel Partner co-selling, including enablement, account planning, and opportunity management.
- Technical understanding of ICT products (e.g., mobile, fixed, data, cloud) and the ability to engage pre-sales teams effectively.
- Skilled in solution selling, pipeline development, CRM forecasting, and commercial negotiation.
- Proficient in Salesforce, uCRM, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and digital prospecting tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, ICT, Marketing or a related field (MBA preferred).
