QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university;
  2. Valid standard administration certification;
  3. Five (5) years of successful teaching and coaching experience;
  4. Knowledge of the overall operations of an athletic program;
  5. Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics;
  6. Ability to implement policy and procedures;
  7. Ability to interpret data;
  8. Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and coordinate district functions; and excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days

Salary:

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2025-2026.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Direct and manage the district’s athletic program and facilities.
  2. Develop and maintain an active interscholastic athletic program that is responsive to community needs, promotes good sportsmanship, and effectively integrates into overall district programs designed to meet student development objectives.
  3. Establish physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport, and verify each athlete’s eligibility.
  4. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to gauge athletic program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs.
  5. Prepare and approve all interscholastic game schedules.
  6. Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town athletic events.
  7. Manage district athletic operations by directing and overseeing ticket sales and ensuring the preparation of facilities.
  8. Attend regular season athletic contests; postseason games; and district, regional, state, and national meets, ensuring that the athletic department is represented at events for all sports.
  9. Oversee the process of cleaning and sanitizing, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment in accordance with policies and regulations.
  10. Coordinate the use of all athletic facilities by non-school groups.
  11. Plan, organize, and oversee all athletic awards programs.
  12. Implement district student management policies, communicate expected student behavior related to athletics, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  13. Implement the regulations and policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and district board policy in athletics.
  14. Compile, maintain, file, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents, including win/loss records, student awards, and scholarships.
  15. Compile and administer the athletic department budget and ensure that programs are cost-effective and that funds are managed prudently.
  16. Initiate and approve purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
  17. Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary.
  18. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions for the athletic department.
  19. Recruit, select, train, and supervise all athletic department personnel and make sound recommendations about personnel placement, assignments, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
  20. Evaluate the job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
  21. Develop training options and/or improvement plans for employees to ensure exemplary operation in the area of athletics.
  22. Articulate the district’s mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  23. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement including support of athletic booster club activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and evaluate associate athletic directors, campus athletic coordinators, and secretary(s).

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district-wide travel; frequent prolonged and

irregular hours. Occasional exposure to the outdoors and noise.
