Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of and reporting to the Athletic Director on the areas of Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, and the Nutrition program for all student-athletes participating in our 18 sport intercollegiate athletic program.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day to day operations of the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training program, facilities, and the staff and student assistants to ensure that all student athletes receive the same level of care and have access to all medical services; serves as the primary athletic trainer for designated teams during their practices and competitions.
  • Works with the strength and conditioning coaching staff to implement a program that educates and trains the student-athletes on the proper techniques for weight lifting, motion and flexibility, performance enhancement, nutrition, injury prevention, and conditioning during rehabilitation.
  • Responsible for area budget, program assessment and review, and offering revenue generating programs. Submitting grants for external funds and receiving. Prepare semi-annual & annual operating reports documenting student participation in programs and assessment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of experience in athletic administration.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Texas Athletic Trainer License is required.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to travel.
