Sr. Scientist - Content Development

Alamar Biosciences

At Alamar Biosciences, we’re on a mission to transform the field of proteomics for the early detection of cancer and other diseases. We are creating the world’s most sensitive proteomics platform to unmask the deepest secrets of our proteome. Our fully automated, high throughput platform will empower new biomarker discoveries for early detection and prevention of common diseases. We provide exceptional opportunities for those who have the entrepreneurial spirit, enjoy developing novel technologies and products, and aspire to grow together with the company.

Description:

We are seeking a Sr. Scientist with a passion for innovation to augment our novel biomarker detection and quantitation capability on Alamar’s novel technology platform. In this position, you will be working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and will be a part of a rapidly growing company to make a big impact in life science research and early disease diagnosis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot NULISA experiments for various biomarkers across diverse biological matrices (e.g., plasma, CSF, serum), ensuring high-quality, reproducible data.
  • Develop and optimize assay parameters to meet performance requirements, including sensitivity, specificity, dynamic range, precision, and robustness.
  • Evaluate and integrate novel technologies, reagents, and workflow improvements to enhance assay performance and scalability for both singleplex and multiplex formats.
  • Perform rigorous data analysis using appropriate bioanalytical and statistical tools to determine key assay performance characteristics (e.g., LoD, LLoQ, precision, linearity, specificity, stability).
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure the timely and accurate execution of project deliverables.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) within the technical core team, supporting risk assessments, design reviews, and root cause investigations related to assay development challenges.
  • Provide technical mentorship and hands-on training to junior scientists and cross-functional stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Author, maintain, and review assay development documentation, including technical reports, SOPs, and work instructions, ensuring traceability and compliance with industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and optimizing immunoassays, ideally on high-sensitivity platforms (e.g., Simoa, MSD, or Luminex).
  • Strong expertise in assay prototyping, development, and control system design.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations and best practices for assay development, including verification and validation workflows.
  • Experience in multiplex assay development and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data management systems and tools is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex scientific concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated, with a strong “can-do” attitude and the ability to lead complex projects to completion.
