ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Plant Engineering Manager /Technical Manager you will be responsible for managing the engineering team and overseeing the technical operations in the Constantine facility.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Manages plant quality systems, specifications, product development, and documentation.
  • Champions a safe and healthy workplace, particularly in Hazard Communication.
  • Liaises with all chemical suppliers for the safe and efficient use of process and product chemistry.
  • Coordinates trials for new products, tracks supplier continuous improvement initiatives (including cost control efforts), and approves and tracks all chemical spending and savings.
  • Provides engineering and technical advice to all faucets of the business
  • Participates in capital expenditures planning to ensure plants are properly equipped for future needs.
  • Promotes lean activities (e.g., engagements, Kaizens, etc.) to help facilitate improvements.
  • Investigates solutions for equipment upgrades and identifies improvement synergies.
  • Supports plant environmental compliance by overseeing preparation of all required reports and data submissions.
  • Provides leadership for continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated project management experience by having successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products.
  • Understanding of reliability tools and strategies including direct experience facilitating.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles specifically as it relates to maintenance planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult situations.
  • Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to utilize and train employees of varying levels/skills on technology, processes and procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience in a recycled paperboard mill.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in manufacturing best practices.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other Operational Excellence system experience is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations is a plus.
  • Paper mill, Paper converting, chemical or plastics processing experience.
