Job Description:
Basic Function
Engineer high precision, mechanical designs for Ultra High Vacuum Equipment, New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design for manufacture of assemblies that consist of machined, molded, welded, etched, stamped, and extruded components while coordinating with electrical design teams.
- Build and test prototypes, evaluation units, and equipment, adhering to cleanroom safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) using Solidworks to Brooks documentation standards.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and design verification/validation testing (DVT), collaborating with Test Engineers and customers.
- Modify designs to enhance performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
- Use PDM software and SharePoint for documentation management.
- Support manufacturing, equipment setup, validation, and repair during production.
- Initiate and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Work independently and in teams to support continuous improvement in product quality and safety.
- Abide by all safety and PPE Requirements.
Education and Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required, MS a plus.
- 5-15 years’ experience in high-precision mechanical design and equipment development.
- Up to 5 years’ experience with a strong background considered.
- Expert proficiency in Solidworks (3D modeling, assemblies, weldments, renderings), GD&T per ASME Y14.5 are required.
- Expertise with FEA (Solidworks Simulation, COMSOL or Ansys are a plus.
- Experience in Product Development, OEM machinery, semiconductor manufacturing tools, or ultra-high vacuum systems preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Other software such as Asana, Planner, Power BI & LabView are a plus.
- Standards & agency approvals experience including but not limited to ASME BPVC, SEMI, CE, UL, FM, PED are a plus.
