Job Summary
The Editor I provides support to UT Dallas graduate students by reviewing and approving doctoral dissertations and master’s theses. Successful candidates will possess the ability to identify corrections needed to comply with the Office of Graduate Education’s formatting guidelines and provide ongoing communication with students through the completion of the dissertation/thesis approval process. Candidates will ensure that doctoral final oral exams are conducted in accordance with UTD policy and procedures, and work with students to complete the administrative requirements necessary to finalize the dissertation or thesis for publication. Candidates must be able to work independently and with a team to meet strict deadlines.
Additionally, the Editor I provides graduate writing support by advising and offering programming to assist UT Dallas graduate students with their writing goals. The candidate holds one-to-one consultations to address the individual writing concerns of graduate students, develops and delivers original programming to address significant aspects of academic writing in group settings, collects attendance data, and develops assessment tools to evaluate the programming.
The Editor I will also assist with the English Proficiency Program for international graduate teaching assistants. The candidate will verbally screen teaching assistants who do not meet English proficiency test score requirements and assist with a non-credit course for teaching assistants who are identified as needing additional English proficiency support.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Remote Work Notice
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
