Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Internal Auditor with a strong focus on risk-based auditing to join our Internal Audit team. This role will play a key part in identifying and evaluating business risks, executing targeted audit procedures, and driving meaningful improvements across the organization. This position is NOT focused on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced auditor who can independently conduct end-to-end walkthroughs of complex business processes, ask the right questions to gain deep understanding, and deliver high-quality audit results aligned with IIA standards and risk-based methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and independently conduct walkthroughs of business processes, engaging stakeholders effectively and asking the right questions to identify key risks, controls, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive process documentation, including narratives, flowcharts, and risk-control matrices for complex operations
  • Design and execute risk-based audit procedures tailored to identified risks and business objectives
  • Analyze results, evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls, and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen risk management and operational performance
  • Stay current with internal audit best practices and regulatory guidelines, applying this knowledge during audits
  • Communicate audit issues, root causes, and risk implications clearly and constructively to stakeholders and Internal Audit leadership
  • Support the development of audit reports, presentations, and other communications to senior leadership
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies and tools
  • Perform other audit-related responsibilities as needed in a dynamic and evolving audit environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree a plus
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CIA, CPA, CFE), but not required
  • Minimum of 4 years of internal/external audit experience with demonstrated ability to independently plan and perform risk-based audits
  • Proven ability to conduct walkthroughs independently, evaluate risks, and determine control adequacy
  • Strong understanding of internal audit standards (IIA), risk assessment techniques, and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to clearly explain audit issues and recommendations to non-audit stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant audit software tools
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel 10–25%
  • Experience in the poultry, protein, or manufacturing industry is preferred, but not required
