Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Java, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience in using data analytics methods to identify, diagnose, and resolve quality and reliability issues in software systems.
  • Experience with various audio and video codecs and their impact on media quality and performance.
  • Understanding of Android camera or media (audio/video) frameworks, including Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
  • Ability to optimize and improve camera and media subsystem stability and user experience through data-driven approaches.

As a Software Engineer you will be diving into Android audio/camera/media Software/Hardware development. Projects may include: collaborating with Audio/Camera/Media team members to create telemetry to improve experiences, automating social media app testing, automating compliance testing for Audio/Camera/Media, creating methods to "tier" millions of Android devices to allow app developers to features to the correct devices. Your job will be to come up with new ways of monitoring, tiering, and testing audio/camera/media features and ensure all Android camera users have an experience.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about and keep up with mobile audio/camera/media technology. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices. Contribute to existing documentation and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on user experience and quality.
  • Help Android developers understand and use audio/camera/media APIs better, in collaboration with internal teams. Help Android manufacturers understand and use the audio/camera/media stack better, in collaboration with Android Partners.
  • Explore new technologies like LLMs and image/video/audio processing algorithms to enable next generation validation approaches.
