Job Summary:
As the CNC Programmer / Plant Manager, you will oversee and execute CNC programming for lathes, mills, live tool lathes, and 5-axis mills. You’ll also lead a small team of machinists, manage workflow, and ensure top-notch quality and safety on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SmartCAM, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
- Design and build custom fixtures and work-holding devices.
- Oversee production primarily for aluminum castings, with some iron and steel work.
- Optimize machining processes for speed, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Troubleshoot machining, programming, and equipment issues.
- Lead and mentor CNC machinists; provide training and encourage continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to maintain part accuracy and workflow.
- Enforce safety protocols and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience.
- Experience with 5-axis mills and live tool lathes.
- Hands-on machining experience, especially with aluminum castings.
- Strong CAD/CAM and fixture development skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and GD&T specifications.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Technology
- Practical, hands-on experience may substitute formal education.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and dusty environments.
