Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to coordinate, under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Technical Assistance Supervisor, efforts to expand children's behavioral health services statewide. The Program Coordinator will oversee new and innovative services as well as expansion of current services that are necessary for a comprehensive children's behavioral health system. The Program Coordinator will serve as as a Subject Matter Expert for children's and adolescent behavioral health services and be knowledgeable of evidenced-based and best practices for program models. This position will collaborate with internal and external partners to support the statewide development of a trauma responsive, accessible, and high quality community behavioral health workforce providing children's behavioral health services through the provision of technical assistance to community providers. This position is also responsible for fiscal, administrative and programmatic oversight and management of contracts to include review of and approval for payment of provider invoices, oversight of contract activities and deliverables, and providing program data and outcomes to leadership.

How does it get done?

1. Subject Matter Expert [30%] - This position serves as the CYFD BHS lead for Medicaid focused programs and services. This position will also be knowledgeable of related national evidence-based and/or best practices, such as Functional Family Therapy, Multi-Systemic Therapy, and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with consideration of New Mexico's culture. This position will participate in and assist with the coordination of related technical assistance activities internal and external to the Department and participate in assigned committees and work groups to represent children's behavioral health, while adhering to the CYFD Operating Principles of being kind, respectful and responsive.

2. Program Contracts [30%] - This position is responsible for collaborating with the CYFD Administrative Services Division and division managers in order to:

a. Ensure adherence with all state and federal statues and regulations and all departmental policies and directives;

b. Ensure timely completion and execution of all relevant program contracts;

c. Provide fiscal oversight, approval, and accountability; and

d. Complete program audits and reviews to ensure program accountability and compliance.

3. Workforce Development [20%] - This position will collaborate with external behavioral health providers, community members, key stakeholders, and internal partners to support training related to assigned programs. This includes identification of high-quality trainer/models that reflect the Division's values and principles. This position will collaborate with external trainer partners to oversee the successful delivery of training, coaching, and/or technical assistance.

4. Data Tracking and Reporting and Other Duties as Assigned [20%] - This position will track data and outcomes for assigned programs and report in identified reporting platforms and/or templates. This position will maintain current and accurate program information and report to leadership as needed, to include completion of Program Reports, legislative bills, and program/policy recommendations. This position will complete other duties as assigned.

The CBHS Technical Assistance Program Coordinator position focuses on addressing the needs of New Mexico's Children and Adolescents ages birth to 21 by helping to ensure adequate behavioral health services are available.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Most work is done in an office setting on a computer. There will also be some travel across the state to meet in person with providers or sister agencies.
