JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Instrument Engineer/Specialist is responsible for the design, engineering, and implementation of process instrumentation and control systems from initial conception through commissioning. The Instrument Engineer/Specialist is responsible for design and engineering that provide the most reliable and cost- effective instrument and control systems. The Instrument Engineer/Specialist also provides consulting services to process engineers in developing process design specifications, develops operating and training manuals for mechanical and process personnel, and participates in training operating personnel. The Instrument Engineer/Specialist writes purchase and construction specifications and participates in Factory Acceptance Tests. The Instrument Engineer/Specialist specifies, procures, and configures Distributed Control Systems, and field hardware such as transmitters, control valves, and electronic transmission systems.

The Instrument Engineer/Specialist utilizes American Petroleum Institute (API) Standards, Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) Standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Client standards and practices to perform the above functions.

Responsibilities may include:

• Instrumentation and controls capital projects engineering including front-end-loading, cost estimates, specifications and oversight of detailed design.
• Identifying areas where instrumentation/controls can improve plant operation and profitability

Basic/Required: (Remember, anything listed in this section is a qualification the candidate MUST have in order to be considered.)

• Bachelor"s degree in Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical engineering and 5 years experience in refining or chemicals industry as an Instrument engineer

or

• Associate"s degree in instrumentation technology, electronics or a related field and 10 years experience in process instrumentation design and/or maintenance
• 5 years experience in refining or chemicals industry

Preferred: (Candidates do NOT have to have all of the items listed in this section to be considered.)

• Proficient in use of SAP - PM & PS Modules
• Proficient in project estimating and project engineering skills
• Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Projects
