The Director, Electronic Components Life Cycle Management is responsible for the strategic development and execution of an integrated sourcing and supply chain strategy for electronics that spans the entire lifecycle across Rheem’s business units and product lines. Partnering with our strategic sourcing team, they will optimize sourcing methodologies, cultivate strong, long-term partnerships with suppliers, and drive collaborative efforts with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to improve efficiency, resilience, risk management and sustainability of electronic controls solutions and value streams (including end of life management). This successful candidate will lead and develop a multi-function team, significantly impacting the performance and sustainability of Rheem’s electronic control solutions for current and future product innovations.

This position will be part of our Global Technology Function team located in Indianapolis, Indiana (Hybrid).

  • Lead the collaborative development and execution of a robust electronic controls sourcing and supplier management strategy.
  • Optimize the end-to-end electronics supply chain and value stream, focusing on inventory levels, lead times, logistics, and demand forecasting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality) to implement key performance metrics and enhance quality and reliability throughout the electronics value stream.
  • Drive cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing and efficient supply chain management; minimize production issues impacting cost.
  • Streamline electronic component sourcing and supply chain processes to reduce lead times and accelerate new product introductions.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the electronics supply chain; provide technical expertise and support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering management, including employee training and mentoring.
  • 12+ years of experience in the development and/or testing of embedded microprocessor-based controls, including 10+ years of successful embedded system engineering project management.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic global sourcing of electronics components and ODM providers.
  • Proven proficiency in system requirements documentation, allocation, traceability, and test case development and execution.
  • Demonstrated passion for building and owning innovative, customer-focused, sustainable products/services with long-term availability.
  • Experience with product and component-level FMEAs and electronics failure analysis.
  • Proven track record of leading embedded systems development throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical procedures and government regulations; proficient in understanding schematic, electrical, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, business teams, external experts).
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with test development methodologies for electronic products.
  • First-hand experience in the sourcing and selection of ODM partners for electronic components and control products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in HVAC or Water Heating applications
  • Significant experience in controls manufacturing and operations
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience in Quality and Reliability aspects of product development
