We are seeking an Engineering Working Student passionate about global collaboration in milk harvesting technologies. Join our team supporting the dairy farming community with advanced milking robots, automation, and smart solutions. In this role, you’ll work with a diverse global team to develop sustainable, profitable solutions that improve machine reliability, manufacturing efficiency, and engineering outcomes. You’ll also build skills in strategic thinking, business acumen, and professional communication—gaining valuable hands-on industry experience alongside your academic studies. Key tasks include:

  • Dairy farming knowledge highly desirable
  • Using CAD (SolidWorks/NX) in a PLM environment (Teamcenter)
  • Printing parts on a 3D printer
  • Failure analysis testing
  • Analyzing first article parts and creating summary reports
  • Support construction, operation, and presentation of lab tests
  • Inspection of parts after field testing or warranty claims
  • Arrange shipments of parts to different GEA facilities or test farms
  • Submit purchasing requisitions or internal orders of parts and components
  • Duration 6-18 months
  • Part time school year (10-15 hours/week) / Full time Summer. Depending on the tasks, a portion of the time may be work from home – negotiable.

Your Profile / Qualifications

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $21 - $22 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in an Engineering related field
  • Willingness to travel 5% - 10%
  • Experience with dairy cattle
  • Experience in machine maintenance, repair, or assembly.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Good work ethic
  • Strong team player
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and oral
