Position Description

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is looking for a Short-Term (11-month) TEMPORARY or Out-of Class (OOC) Network Engineer (ITP-B BU) for the Risk and Quality Assurance Division. This position will support SPU's crucial Integrated Security Separation Project.

This Network Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and will work to identify and mitigate security risks. This position is a terrific opportunity for a candidate with a high attention to detail, ability to work independently within a team, and provide a variety of services in varying workplaces.

This Temporary (external)/OOC (internal) position is expected to last up to 11-months and is open to all regular City of Seattle employees, as well as external candidates. External candidates will [initially] be non-benefited and will receive premium pay in lieu of benefits.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities for this Temporary/OOC Network Engineer:

  • Responsible for insuring the successful deployment, configuration, and operations of ISS network components.
  • Coordinate with other System Engineers, Network Engineers, and Technology Security Staff to ensure hardware standardization and network security policies are followed.
  • Oversee qualify check and quality assurance of ISS Access Control data, to ensuring that calibration compliance meets benchmark requirements.
  • Serve as primary contact and SME on the integrated Security Separation project.
  • Assist with other LOB generated ISS projects.

Qualifications

Experience Requirement: Three (3) to five (5) years' experience with Network Engineering/Architecture, including responsibilities related to integrated security systems, to include intercom and camera systems experience.

Education Requirements: Associates Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related Industry Certifications to match time in educational experience.

Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements.

License, Certification and Other Requirements:

  • At the time of appointment must hold a current/valid Washington State Driver's License

The full salary range for this position is $52.63 per hour - $79.00 per hour.

Workplace Environment (*Telework Expectation):

This position requires the selected candidate to work five (5) days in-office, and the specific schedule will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
