We are seeking a Full Time Applications Engineer to join our Conductor Accessories team here in Duncan, SC!

Job Summary

The Applications Engineer provides technical support to a specific market or customer for a product/group of products, which includes creating application notes and instruction manuals, conducting trainings, and communicating product design and performance characteristics. The incumbent initiates: New Product Requests (NPR), Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) to existing products, supports all external Requests for Quote responses and assists in product development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to sales, customer service representatives and customers
  • Conduct product training both internally for company associates and externally for customers, sales agents and representatives
  • Create documents for new product introductions, installation instructions, application notes and product specification guidelines
  • Initiate NPR and ECO processes. Interact with manufacturing, sales and R&D teams to develop and market new products
  • Supports Request for Quote response efforts
  • Remain up to date and knowledgeable on the most current competitor product offerings and technology
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health and safety policies of AFL.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required (or equivalent experience)
  • Entry level up to 6 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial and/or design environment
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude with firm grasp of engineering principles and ability to apply to wide range of products.
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in Overhead Transmission Line, Motion Control Design, or Vibration is desired.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, managing new products from concept to launch strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in computer software including MS Office, SolidWorks, AutoCad.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
  • Up to 30% travel may be required
