Position Summary:

Provides customer-focused quality healthcare to family health patient populations; meeting their diverse health and social needs.

Coding:

  • Ensures that all patient records are coded within an acceptable amount of time.
  • Reviews chart thoroughly to ascertain all diagnoses/procedures are reflected accurately on the bill generated.
  • All coding that is able to be coded must be completed by end of the month.
  • Coder’s diagnoses and procedures on coding summary must agree with physician’s preference and dictation.
  • Codes all diagnoses/procedures in accordance to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Familiarity with all coding requirements in an outpatient setting and professional components of facility codes.

Administration:

  • Meet and communicate with the physician and staff regularly to review coding and procedures performed.
  • Assists the director with state requirements and reports.
  • Ensures data quality and optimum reimbursement allowable under the federal and state payment systems, also maintain a current working knowledge of CMS regulations.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department, other departments and medical staff.
  • Maintain coding certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required.

License:

  • Active Coding certification required.

Required Skills:

  • Complies with legal, hospital and departmental policies, procedures and position requirements.
