A Brief Overview

The Food Service Associate I assembles, serves, and delivers food and supplies to patient care areas following all regulatory standards for food safety. The Food Service Associate I also washes dishes, pots and pans and puts them away.

What you will do

• Cleaning & Maintenance Cleans, maintains, and assembles equipment ensuring proper usage.
• Administration Communicates issues or problems promptly to the supervisor.
• Cleaning & Maintenance Maintains work area in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
• Handwashing & Hygiene Practices good handwashing and personal hygiene including wearing clean uniforms, covering hair, and using gloves properly.
• Food Preparation Prepares, assembles and delivers food and supplies on time and according to lists or tallies, as needed.
• Food & Refrigeration Temp Records food and refrigeration temperatures accurately, including in kitchens and within units where there are patient refrigerators.
• Food Serving Serves food according to food regulatory standards for temperature, in the correct portion and presented in an attractive manner.
• Supplies Stores equipment and supplies according to standards.
• Food & Nutrition Transports or stores food safely, including covering, dating and labeling foods.
• Food Tray Delivery Completes all steps related to passing of patient food trays in a timely, courteous manner using clean technique.

Qualifications

• Preferred High School Diploma/GED
• 1 year Healthcare or Hospitality Preferred
• 1 year Food Service - Institutional Preferred
• 1 year Customer Service Preferred
• Food Handler Certification - ServSafe while working in Illinois required
• Food Handler Certification - ServSafe while working in Indiana preferred
