Security Researcher – Large World Models, Spatial Computing, Robotics

Nokia

Hungary (Hybrid)

We're looking for a creative and driven Security Researcher to join our diverse and collaborative research team. In this role, you'll help shape the future of secure, AI-powered platforms that connect the physical and virtual worlds — from robotics and digital twins to immersive enterprise systems.

You'll contribute to the design, testing, and advancement of security for large-scale, spatially aware AI systems, including cloud robotics, interactive simulations, and metaverse applications. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of AI/ML researchers, roboticists, and cloud engineers, you'll play a key role in anticipating and addressing emerging threats across both simulated and real-world environments.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences who are excited about working at the intersection of security, AI, and physical systems.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

What You’ll Do

  • Explore and advance security research related to large world models (LWMs) used in simulations, digital twins, and AI-driven autonomous systems.
  • Identify and model potential threats and adversarial behaviors affecting agents, environments, and immersive simulations.
  • Build tools and techniques to detect and mitigate challenges such as adversarial attacks, model manipulation, and sensor spoofing in both real-world and synthetic settings.
  • Design resilient data pipelines and implement safeguards throughout the model lifecycle — from training data and parameters to inference outputs.
  • Contribute to the development of secure communication and coordination protocols for multi-agent systems, cloud-robotic interactions, and virtual presence technologies.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into secure-by-design features for spatial computing and immersive enterprise platforms.
  • Share your work through high-impact publications and presentations at leading conferences such as IEEE S&P, NDSS, CCS, USENIX Security, NeurIPS, or ICRA.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in security research or engineering, preferably in AI or cyber-physical systems.
  • Strong background in computer security, adversarial machine learning, or AI/robotics safety.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust.
  • Deep understanding of simulation environments, digital twins, or robotic middleware (ROS, Omniverse, Unity).
  • Familiarity with security analysis tools (e.g., fuzzers, static analyzers, penetration frameworks).

Preferred Qualifications

  • You hold or you are in advanced stage of acquiring a PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on security, AI, or distributed systems.
  • Experience securing AI/ML pipelines, spatial computing systems, or AR/VR environments.
  • Knowledge of secure communication (TLS, DTLS, MPC), privacy techniques (differential privacy, federated learning), or zero trust architectures.
  • Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed research or public security contributions (e.g., CVEs, open-source tools, red team reports).

Bonus Tools & Stack You Might Touch

  • Simulation: Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity, Omniverse
  • ML/AI: PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace Transformers, OpenAI Gym
  • Security: Burp Suite, Wireshark, Metasploit, Adversarial Robustness Toolbox (ART)
  • Cloud: Kubernetes, ROSBridge, WebRTC, Edge devices
