About this role:
Reporting to the Group Controls Manager, the Group Controls Officer supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Group’s internal control framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policy adherence, and the effectiveness of financial and operational controls.
Accountabilities:
- Support the ongoing design, documentation, and enhancement of internal controls across key business processes.
- Perform control testing and validation activities, including walkthroughs and evidence collection.
- Assist with control self-assessments and risk/control matrices for business units and support functions.
- Help monitor and follow up on control deficiencies, audit findings, and remediation action plans.
- Collaborate with process owners to ensure control activities are understood, executed, and evidenced effectively.
- Maintain up-to-date records of control documentation in centralized systems or repositories.
- Assist with preparing internal reports, dashboards, and materials for senior stakeholders.
- Provide administrative and coordination support, compiling and organising documentation to support audit processes, working closely with Internal Audit members and external auditors to provide information and address issues
- Collaborate with team members to provide insight into financial data for management, aiding in budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with Accounting & Reporting standards, relevant regulations and internal controls, maintaining financial integrity
- Stay informed about changes in policies, regulations, and business processes that may affect the control environment.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in internal controls, internal audit, compliance, or related roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and reporting processes with full knowledge of methodologies, processes, and practices
- Good understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO, SOX).
- Effective communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
- Working toward a professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA).
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Exposure to multinational or group environments.
