Rotating Equipment Engineer

Description

Provides recommendations for operating general-purpose equipment within the refinery by assessing calculated risks using available data, such as vibration, process performance, and process data.

  • Provides daily troubleshooting and technical support for the refinery's rotating equipment issues.
  • Provides or approves QA/QC plans for rotating equipment repairs, applicable to both onsite and offsite equipment repairs.
  • Reviews and approves repair scopes for rotating equipment for both onsite and offsite repairs.
  • Provides start-up assistance for critical rotating equipment.
  • Supports operations in developing, reviewing, and revising start-up and shutdown procedures for rotating equipment.
  • Analyzes vibration spectra and trends and issue Machine Action Reports if any corrective measure is required.
  • Records all data (memos, close-out reports, recommendations) in the REL-ROT file system.
  • Analyzes and documents the cause of rotating equipment failures.
  • Recommends required stock items for general-purpose rotating equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
  • 2 years of experience in the area of rotating equipment required
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Meraux Refinery, required.
  • Bachelor's or higher level degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
