GENERAL INFORMATION
Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is looking to hire a full-time Specialist -11 month - Lic for our Office of Teaching and Learning - Pre K Program in St. Paul, MN. We are aiming to fill this role in 2 - 4 weeks. Employees could be eligible for Medical/Dental/Vision/Pension and accrue sick and vacation time.
This position will provide site-based instructional leadership for the Early Childhood Wing at Bruce Vento Elementary.
Position Summary
The Early Education Partnership Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of effective Pre-Kindergarten programming within the early childhood wing at Bruce Vento Elementary.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Pre-Kindergarten Programming, in the Office of Teaching and Learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Birth-Grade 3, Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, K-6, ECFE, ELL, or Social Work license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education
- Three or more years of successful teaching experience in a Birth-Grade 3 educational setting.
- Experience teaching in a culturally, ethnically, linguistic and disability diverse setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Pre-Primary and/or Early Childhood Education licensure.
- Master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction or a related field.
- Experience in facilitating professional development for early learning educators.
- Professional Development in systems theory, family dynamics, adult education, child development, curriculum and related topics.
- Experience developing and implementing early childhood curriculum (Pre-K, ECFE, etc.).
- Knowledge of early childhood assessments and authentic data collection.
- Successful experience working with children, families and staff from diverse cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Experience in culturally responsive instruction in an early childhood education setting.
- Experience supporting language acquisition of young and multilingual language learners.
- Knowledge of coaching models (Transformative, Cognitive, Adaptive Schools).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum, resources and materials, MN Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and SPPS strategic plan.
- Knowledge of standards-based education that includes familiarity with Minnesota Parent Education Standards, Parenting Educator Core Competencies, Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress, and Minnesota Academic Standards.
- Knowledge of current educational research, evidence-based practices, effective instructional strategies, and high quality curriculum in the teaching of standards-based early learning.
- Knowledge of human growth and development, family relationship dynamics, family diversity and diversity in family systems, parent-child relationships, child development, community relationships, professional best practices, and specific disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with children, families, teachers, support staff, administrators and community partners representing diverse backgrounds and experiences to create and facilitate partnerships between families, school and community.
- Knowledge of professional learning communities and the DuFour reflection process.
- Ability to identify racial inequities and collaboratively plan to interrupt inequitable practices and challenge the status quo.
- The ability to effectively communicate information to multiple stakeholders through various methods. Ability to utilize data to plan and differentiate learning for staff.
- Organized, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain objectivity when confronted with conflict-based issues and individuals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to use technology to support adult and student learning.
Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Provide ongoing development of the early childhood programming within the Bruce Vento Early Childhood wing.
- Assist in implementation of the strategic plan, specifically Pre-Kindergarten initiatives that support Culturally Responsive Instruction, family engagement, transition, and ensuring access to a well-rounded education.
- Plan, prepare, and implement site level professional development opportunities throughout the year.
- Share effective instructional strategies with teachers, caregivers, and paraprofessionals via collaborative walkthroughs; observe teachers in the classroom as scheduled; offer instructional feedback and support as needed.
- Build trust and respect in a collaborative environment that fosters a culture of continuous professional growth and reflection.
- Build capacity with teachers, caregivers, and paraprofessionals around authentic data collection in all domain areas promoting successful learners.
- Successfully navigate politically-charged environments, always acting with integrity, honesty, and courage in the best interests of students.
- Commit to one¿s own continuous improvement, and possess an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
PAY, BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 11 month position working 40 hours per week.
Pay range for this position is: $59,997 - $107,973
Maximum hiring step = Step Eleven (11)
