Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is looking to hire a full-time TOSA-11 Month (202 Duty Days) for our Office of Teaching and Learning in St. Paul, MN. We are aiming to fill this role in 2 - 4 weeks. Employees could be eligible for Medical/Dental/Vision/Pension and accrue sick and vacation time.

The PAR Board, consisting of members representing SPFE and SPPS District Administration, is currently looking for candidates to fill upcoming vacancies as PAR Educators. We are considering candidates for full-time PAR coaching positions available for the 2025-2026 school year. We are looking for a Special Education teacher with a preference for elementary special education.

Full-time PAR Educators may be assigned to work with teachers outside of their licensed grade level or content area. PAR Educators sometimes assist teachers new to a grade level, assignment, or licensure. Occasionally, PAR Educators may work with tenured teachers who have requested additional support for a limited time.

Position Summary

Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) is a collaboration between Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the Saint Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE). The purpose of the PAR program is to support the professional growth of SPPS teachers. The primary role of a PAR Educator is to enhance and habituate self-directed learning through coaching, as well as collaborating, consulting, and evaluating.

Minimum Qualifications:

¿ Must hold a valid Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education.

¿ Currently tenured under SPFE teacher contract.

¿ Current performance evaluation completed by an administrator within the past two school years at the proficient or above level.

¿ Special Education Teacher

Preferred Qualifications:

¿ At least seven years of successful teaching experience in Saint Paul Public Schools.

¿ Master's degree in education or related field.

¿ Experience in designing and facilitating professional development.

¿ Experience teaching, mentoring, and advising adult learners.

¿ Experience providing professional presentations to a variety of audiences.

¿ Elementary Special Education

¿ Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with teachers, union leaders, and administration.

¿ Strong oral and written communication skills.

¿ Knowledge of Teacher Development and Evaluation (TD&E).

¿ Ability to identify, share, conduct, and apply professional research.

¿ Ability to work a flexible schedule.

¿ Access to transportation to travel between various District sites.

¿ Ability to seek out and consider multiple perspectives.

Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental responsibilities:

¿ Knowledge of and use of equity tools to support all members of the SPPS community.

¿ Strong ability to provide personalized coaching and/or observation visits with assigned probationary teachers in a case load, typically occurring weekly/bi-weekly (4 visits/month).

¿ Exercise strong verbal and written communication skills to share progress on goal(s), and provide differentiated support as needed to each assigned teacher.

¿ Demonstrate ability to collaborate and consult with assigned teachers to develop data points (isolating race, achievement, gender, etc.), and provide feedback needed to support growth.

¿ Demonstrate ability to coach and assist teachers with implementing standards and best practices related to District instructional initiatives (Personalized Learning, CRT).

¿ Strong written communication skills demonstrating clarity of thought and purpose to share feedback and consult with the assigned teacher and administration through electronically documented notes.

¿ Ability to maintain records of mileage, time cards, and calendar in a timely and responsible manner.

¿ Demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate with other consulting teachers, coaches, and administration to enhance the improvement of assigned teachers.

¿ Demonstrate strong coaching skills to enable teachers to implement district curriculum, pacing guides, instructional models, interventions, and assessments.

¿ Demonstrate analytical skills to work with teachers to analyze formative assessments and to use the assessment data effectively to support differentiated classroom instruction.

¿ Demonstrate strong coaching and consulting skills to work with teachers to analyze student work for planning next steps.

¿ Participate effectively as a contributing partner in the SET evaluation process with probationary teachers and administrators.

¿ Demonstrate strong consultation skills to assist with short and long-term planning for teachers, including the establishment of specific performance goals.

¿ Assist in researching and providing curricular resources for teachers.

¿ Ability to effectively present to the PAR Board regarding assigned probationary teachers' progress, professional goals, and recommend to the administration and the PAR Board about continued employment

PAY, BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE

This is a 11 month position working 40 hours per week.

Pay range for this position is: $48,015 - $109,398

Maximum hiring step = Step Twenty (20)
