POSITION SPECIFICS
The Center for Language Acquisition and the Department of Applied Linguistics at The Pennsylvania State University are seeking applications for an Assistant Director of the Center and Assistant Research Professor (non-tenure track) of Applied Linguistics.
The appointee will work with the Director in managing Center events and programs, reporting and budgeting, grant work, and contributing to research projects within the Center for Language Acquisition. This work offers the successful candidate the exciting opportunity for direct involvement in managing and coordinating tasks associated with identification of potential sources of external funding in the U.S. and abroad, preparation of grant applications, project and budget management, and dissemination of project findings and outcomes. Moreover, as Assistant Research Professor of Applied Linguistics, the candidate will be able to teach APLNG classes if needed and contribute to other research projects in the department.
This is a full-time appointment. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible.
Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of the Center for Language Acquisition will contribute to the daily operation of the Center by:
Education and Experience: The appointee must have a doctoral degree in applied linguistics, education, or a related field. Prior experience in research center administration (e.g., event planning, budget planning and reporting, grant proposal preparation) is highly desirable as is proficiency in a less commonly taught language. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.
In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
