Cost Accounting and Accounts Payable Manager

As the Cost Accounting Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the cost accounting function and managing the accounts payable team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate cost tracking, product costing, variance analysis, and timely and efficient processing of vendor payments. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and experience in both cost accounting and accounts payable operations.

Your Challenge:

Cost Accounting:

• Develops, implements, and maintains policies, and procedures for Cost Accounting Department.
• Manages the cost accounting staff to complete projects. Ensures that company policies are followed regarding financial reporting requirements
• Maintain and update standard cost systems and analyze manufacturing costs.
• Oversees the gathering of historical cost data, investigation of cost structures, and preparation of budget versus actual expenses.
• Oversees budget preparation as it relates to inventory, material cost, warranty, obsolescence and operations departments
• Perform cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and communicate findings to operations.
• Support inventory valuation, including cycle counts and physical inventory.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to improve cost efficiencies.
• Prepare cost-related reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.

Accounts Payable:

• Supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Oversee month-end AP closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Optimize AP processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
• Ability to manage projects, deadlines, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Proven ability to manage and mentor a team of cost accountants.
• Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, including cost allocation, variance analysis, budgeting, and cost control
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
