  • Perform non-destructive and destructive failure analysis techniques on samples as requested by the customers as part of an investigation of customer complaints, STR or manufacturing failures. Generate, review and publish failure analysis report.
  • Operate FA equipment, instruments and tools. Utilize the use of failure analysis methodology to characterize the physical properties and electrical performance of the samples. Use chemicals to deprocess the sample to expose the device internal components for inspection.
  • Operate these specific FA equipment and instruments but not limited to: Microscope, X ray, Acoustic microscopy, Electron microscope, Elemental analysis, Micro-sectioning, Decapsulation (LASER, mechanical, chemical), Electrical bench testing instruments, curve tracer, and multi temp testers, fume hood and chemicals, polishing and parallel lapping, microprobeR
  • Prepare samples ready for analysis through lead rework, soldering/ desoldering, PCB and module extraction
  • Interpret ATE and bench test results, correlate the failure down to IC schematic/ layout level
  • Primary provider of technical support and direction to the VoF technicians and VoF lab staff.
  • Interact with the Requestor/ Quality, Applications, Test and Product Engineer, Design Engineer to address concerns for a more effective and efficient FA investigation of the customer returns.
  • Review and understand the customer complaint and prepare FA plan and resources needed prior to the actual FA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering Courses: Electronics, Electrical or Physics, Material Science
  • Knowledge in operating electrical instruments and bench testing tools (Power supply, multimeter, signal generator, oscilloscope, I/V curve trace tester)
  • Preferred with intermediate experience in Semiconductor Failure Analysis (Non -destructive and destructive testing). Knows the principles and operation of ( CSAM, X RAY, microscope, SEM/EDX, fumehood, sectioning)
  • With intermediate background on semiconductor electronics industry operations and processes such as: Assembly, IC fabrication, testing and validation (Applications circuits), circuit schematics diagram/layout and ATE datalog review, basic programming, Chemicals and laboratory safety and Quality system
  • Familiar with concept of fault isolation techniques (Emission microscopy, thermal analysis, OBIRCH), Chemical handling, IC delayering and microprobing
