Job Description:

The Insurance AR Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for resolving insurance claim denials, securing reimbursement, and ensuring accurate documentation in the billing system. This contract-to-hire position requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and remote-friendly environment, with expectations for productivity, accuracy, and communication with both payers and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and follow up on unpaid or denied insurance claims
  • Submit appeals and resolve claim issues based on payer guidelines
  • Interpret EOBs, policy coverage, and contract terms to determine liability
  • Research CPT code denials against LCD/NCD requirements
  • Maintain detailed records of follow-up actions and payer communications
  • Collaborate with appeal teams and understand claim lifecycles (primary/secondary)
  • Identify reimbursement trends and proactively flag delays or issues
  • Handle inbound calls from patients and insurance carriers
  • Utilize multiple billing and EMR systems, including GE Centricity, Epic, and OnCo
  • Meet daily productivity goals (typically 50–100 claims per day)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance follow-up or medical billing
  • Strong understanding of managed care plans, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • Familiarity with IPA (Independent Practice Association) structures and contracts
  • Proficiency in interpreting CPT/ICD/HCPCS codes and insurance policies
  • Experience with California payers and Medicaid (Medi-Cal) is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and self-motivate in a remote setting

Additional Details:

  • Schedule: Flexible start (between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM), standard shift 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
  • Work Environment: 4 days remote, 1 day onsite in Fresno – fully remote possible for experienced candidates
  • Training: 2-week onboarding with lead support
  • Contract-to-Hire: 540 hours required before conversion consideration
  • Interview Process: Virtual interviews with Revenue Cycle Management leadership
  • Start Date: Targeting June 16
