We’re seeking a Water Conveyance Engineer to assist with water, wastewater, and/or stormwater planning, modeling, and design development services for a variety of related projects. In this role, you’ll work with other members of our local, regional, and national teams to perform specialized design development and hydraulic modeling assignments for water conveyance and management systems of varied sizes, configurations, and capacities, and for a variety of potential clients. Engagements may involve potable water, wastewater, irrigation, hydropower, and stormwater applications, supporting water transmission, distribution, collection, treatment facilities, flood control, industrial facilities, or other needs. This work involves new and innovative approaches and technologies in hydraulic modeling, system planning and evaluation, and solutions development using a variety of industry leading hydraulic modeling software, such as such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM/InfoSewer, SewerGEMs, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, Mike Urban/Mike+, EPASWMM, EPASSOAP, InfoWaterPro, WaterGEMs, EPANet, Optimizer, and ArcGIS. In this work, you will coordinate with other project disciplines and conduct occasional field activities such as site assessment, data collection, analysis, documentation, and construction support.

Depending on project size and complexity, you’ll have the opportunity to serve as a technical subject matter expert, task lead, and/or in design management roles performing technical tasks, quality control, and coordinating resources to support multiple, concurrent projects through all phases of planning, execution, and closeout. You’ll also contribute to client engagement and development, and professional services marketing, sales, and business development pursuits.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or other applicable Engineering disciplines.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 18 months of start date.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive engineering experience in water system and infrastructure related disciplines, hydraulic evaluations, and design (water resources, stormwater, drainage; drinking water; and/or wastewater and sewer; etc.), including with flow management, diversion, and conveyance, piping and open channel systems, pumping, control valves, storage, other typical system hydraulic structures and elements, and controls.
  • Core technical hydraulic and/or hydrologic model development, calibration, and evaluation experience using at least two of the modeling software packages listed above, or similar, along with ArcGIS, in the planning and analysis of water systems, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Varied and progressive experience developing planning, advancing, and delivering engineering modeling studies and associated technical reports and presentations.
  • Familiarity and experience with typical and related system master planning approaches, technical and industry standards, regulations, and requirements.
  • Foundational experience with MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and with technical writing, editing, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience working and collaborating effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, both internally and with external and client partners, to accomplish complex engineering, planning, and design assignments.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and a demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate, and self-manage your focus and engagements to deliver effectively on project and production delivery commitments and requirements with minimal oversight.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Four or more years of engineering experience in water related disciplines.
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Design and/or project management experience.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and programming, such as Python Scripting for GIS and Visual Basic for Excel.

The base salary range for this position is $95,300.00 to $166,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
