ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
HMI and Control System Programming
- Design, program, and troubleshoot Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to ensure user-friendly functionality.
- Develop, modify, and optimize PLC ladder logic and related control programs.
Equipment Installation & Integration
- Install new production equipment, integrating sensors, robotics, and other automated systems as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Production) to ensure smooth installation and start-up.
System Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Perform root cause analysis on malfunctioning systems, documenting findings and implementing permanent solutions.
Sensors & Instrumentation
- Select, install, and calibrate sensors (pressure, flow, level, temperature, proximity, etc.) to monitor and optimize process parameters.
- Ensure accurate data collection for both real-time monitoring and historical trending.
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, transmission assemblies, and automated machinery.
- Fabricate or modify parts for repairs and machine upgrades as needed.
Equipment Development & Commissioning
- Participate in the design, fabrication, and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Perform acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) to confirm equipment meets all performance and regulatory requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of work orders, maintenance actions, and system configurations.
- Write clear and concise technical reports, sketches, and data analyses as part of project updates or after troubleshooting events.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to provide technical expertise and share best practices.
- Communicate project status, potential issues, and timelines to stakeholders in a clear, organized manner.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) to ensure a safe working environment.
- Identify and correct potential safety hazards and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and manipulate equipment parts weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Stand, walk, and use hands-on tools/equipment for extended periods as required by project demands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or related technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician or similar role; a combination of relevant experience and formal training (robotics, lasers, metal fabrication equipment) will be considered.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Strong background in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and knowledge of relay logic.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, including making code modifications and documenting changes.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) for creating and updating electrical or mechanical drawings.
- Basic understanding of robotic systems and automation integration preferred.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.) is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in both mechanical and electrical domains.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments.
- Strong time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Detail-oriented approach to documentation, compliance, and process improvement.
Additional Requirements
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and data analysis.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States.
