Control Hardware R&D Team Leader

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will guide and meaningfully contribute to the design and development of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) for ABB’s System Drives business. You will bring your own ideas to the table, identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative technology solutions to advance progress and product excellence. You will also motivate and guide your peers, enabling sound technical decision-making and ensuring that all activities are executed in line with ABB’s internal procedures and relevant industry standards. The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid This role is contributing to the division Motion System Drives in Untersiggenthal. You will be mainly accountable for: • Demonstrating technical proficiency in PCBA design by clarifying requirements, specifying and designing analog and digital circuits, selecting appropriate components, creating schematic drawings and simulations, executing functional, environmental, and EMC verification testing, and preparing comprehensive technical documentation. • Leading control hardware development projects by applying proficient technical and project management skills, motivating team members, enabling sound technical decisions, and ensuring the successful execution of project tasks and milestones. • Identifying and mitigating technical risks in collaboration with the R&D Team Leader by systematically managing change requests, ensuring transparency regarding unexpected outcomes or risks, and facilitating timely communication and resolution. • Managing and collaborating with internal R&D teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external partners such as customers and service providers to ensure alignment and enhance development outcomes.

Qualifications for the role

• You hold a university degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• You possess at least five years of professional experience in the design and verification of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), within industrial applications that demand high quality and reliability.
• You are a skilled organizer with great communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across teams.
• You are a self-driven, reliable, and solution-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment.
• You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and can communicate technical topics clearly and confidently.
• You have experience in project management or demonstrate a keen interest in developing further in this area.
