This position functions under the direction and supervision of the Operations Manager for the Outpatient Behavioral Health Programs. The Patient Access Specialist will support the front end of the revenue cycle by processing accurate and complete pre-registration, registration, demographic and financial verification activities. Analyze insurance payor/plans and verifies eligibility through Epic's RTE platform or third-party websites, documents responses of eligibility accurately in the patient medical record. When applicable, PAS will run cost estimates for review with patients, apply appropriate payment discounts and billing indicators. Utilizes the electronic medical health record and completes pre-screen questionnaire for new patients, coordinate and schedule new admissions and existing patient appointments, answers all incoming calls, takes messages and distributes as necessary, placing follow up phone calls to patients who have discharged from the outpatient programs, maintain all logs for compliance and regulatory standards, welcomes visitors and provide facility tours as needed. Processes mail and orders/stock office supplies and other program materials. The Patient Access Specialist will complete all other duties assigned and acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team- communicating information, integrate appropriately with Hospital and assist the Program Director as needed. Must be capable of working independently, presents a positive image by professional appearance, attitude, personality, customer service and body language.
Education
High School Diploma required
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or Clinical Area preferred
Experience
2 years of experience in healthcare/medical - Patient Care Representative
Epic experience required or ability to complete training within 7 days of hire
Qualifications
Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, work well in both a team environment and independently required
Excellent organizational skills required
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills required
