Job Description

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides mental health screening, substance abuse screening, brief intervention, brief therapy/psychotherapy, and referral to services for adult patients in crisis. The Clinician will conduct initial intake assessments, crisis intervention, and clinical determination for level of care. The Clinician will work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health associates, nurses, and off-site behavioral health staff. The Clinician will be responsible for ongoing care coordination on individuals in behavioral health crisis. The Clinician will complete all required documentation timely and in accordance with State regulations. Participates in multi-disciplinary treatment planning. Most of the Clinician’s time will be spent in patient service delivery. The clinician will assess patients’ behavioral health/substance use needs through screening, deliver brief motivationally informed interventions to promote healthy behavior change and connect patients with the appropriate level of care they need.

Education

Masters in Behavioral Health Field, Social Work/Counseling

Experience

Experience working in medical setting preferred

Certification & Licensures

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required*

LCSW/LPC preferred. LCSW eligible or LPC eligible within 3 months of employment required.

  • New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to the completion of orientation.

Qualifications

Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development required.

Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served required.

Competent to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs which may apply based on the age of the patient served

Familiarity with local resources and their programs required.

Prior academic or practical training in motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
