The Engineer – Strategic Data Intelligence supports the development and maintenance of data pipelines, datasets, and dashboards used across HISD’s ERP domains. This role works with data from Oracle Fusion, SAP, and related enterprise systems to ensure that reports are timely, accurate, and aligned with operational needs. The Engineer collaborates with senior staff and analysts to deliver visualizations and data sets in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, supporting districtwide decision-making.
1. Build and maintain data flows between enterprise systems and Microsoft Fabric.
2. Support the development and publishing of datasets and reports in Power BI.
3. Work with stakeholders to clarify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
4. Perform data validation, formatting, and cleansing to ensure accuracy and consistency.
5 Monitor data refreshes and troubleshoot technical issues.
6. Document logic, formulas, and source systems used in each report or dashboard.
7. Support historical reporting and reconciliation efforts during ERP transition periods.
8. Assist with user access, workspace permissions, and role-level security in Power BI.
9. Participate in testing new datasets, visuals, and platform features.

Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, or a related field required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in data reporting, analytics, or engineering. Familiarity with ERP systems and Power BI required. Experience with Microsoft Fabric a plus.
Works independently under the guidance of senior engineers or architects. May coordinate assigned tasks or support user-facing efforts.
Resolves standard technical and data challenges independently. Seeks direction for complex modeling or system design tasks.

Troubleshoots refresh failures, mismatched data, and formula issues. Suggests process improvements to enhance data workflows.
Supports frontline operational reports. Errors may impact school budgets, staffing reports, or compliance dashboards.
Collaborates with analysts, data users, and platform administrators. Participates in user training or feedback loops.
Supports internal customers by delivering clear, timely data solutions that meet departmental needs.
Office-based or hybrid. May require extra hours during critical reporting windows or ERP data transitions.
