The Electrical Engineer with a focus on automation will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing electrical and automation systems, as well as generating and maintaining electrical diagrams using the EPLAN platform. This role will include programming and integrating automated systems while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and energy efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document, define, measure and improve existing manufacturing processes using Industry accepted Automation and Controls Engineering Techniques (PLCs, data base management, etc.)
  • Ensure that the use and application of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools are optimal in terms of quality and productivity.
  • Research, define, develop, and implement new state of the art manufacturing processes, methods, and technologies.
  • Design electrical schematics for control, distribution, and industrial automation systems.
  • Create and modify electrical diagrams in EPLAN, following international standards.
  • Integrate electrical equipment and components according to project technical requirements.
  • Participate in the development and configuration of automation systems using PLCs, SCADAs, and other devices.
  • Collaborate in the implementation and programming of industrial control and monitoring systems.
  • Conduct tests and adjustments to ensure proper operation of automated systems.
  • Prepare detailed electrical diagrams and technical documentation in EPLAN, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and other documents related to the installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Create and manage documentation for the commissioning of electrical projects.
  • Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and automation systems.
  • Identify potential improvements and optimizations in automation systems, proposing innovative solutions.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in electrical and automation systems.
  • Ensure electrical projects comply with relevant national and international regulations, as well as quality and industrial safety standards.
  • Stay updated on regulations and emerging technologies in electrical engineering and automation.
  • Experience in implementing machinery safety systems, in compliance with ISO 13849, is highly desirable.
  • Design and apply functional safety measures in automated systems, ensuring operator and equipment protection.
  • Collaborate in the evaluation and certification of machine and equipment safety according to international standards.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology or any applicable Engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience to create Electrical design, schematics, drawings in EPLAN, Autocad, and Controls Panel Design/Creation (Research supplier products for assembly components), develop electrical bill of materials.
  • Six Sigma Training and experience (Green Belt minimum) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in Functional Safety of Machinery – Process Hazard & Risk Assessment.
  • FDA regulated environment experience (highly desirable).
  • Hands-on experience in optical engineering to select lenses, camera, and mechanical design for computer vision applications is highly desirable.
  • Other technology is a plus: 3D Printing, Laser Marking, Laser Trimming, 5 Axis CNC Machines, Infrared System, Ultraviolet System.
