Solution Architect – SAP Technical

The Solution Architect – SAP Technical will be part of the Global Center of Excellence (COE) for CONMED, which will be operational from India. This role is crucial in the Strategic Solution Design for S/4 HANA Implementation and migrations by using an agile framework. Advocate for process automation and digital transformation initiatives within the organization.

The SAP Technical Solution Architect is an expert in SAP solutions, responsible for setting and managing the organization's SAP IT landscape in alignment with business requirements and supporting the overall SAP transformation journey.

The SAP Technical Solution Architect position at CONMED's Global Center of Excellence in India is pivotal for managing the organization's SAP IT landscape. This role requires expertise in SAP solutions, bridging business needs with technology capabilities, and translating requirements into technical designs.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining SAP solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure, others 3 Pl systems and managing technical infrastructure for SAP systems. Familiarity with SAP BTP, ABAP, FIORI apps, and experience with SAP S/4 HANA and related solutions are required experience parameters.

This position should be well versed with how digital technology can be utilized as a driver in the industry. Take ownership lead associates from different teams and ensure close collaboration between all necessary organizations and parties (infra, security, compliance etc.)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The SAP Technical Solution Architect will be responsible for designing and delivering SAP Technical solution architecture for the organization in coloration with functional and business team members for SAP S/4 HANA Program as well as for all other projects / IT products which are used in CONMED and are part of Integration with SAP S/4 HANA – 3PL Integration. Legacy ERP’s, Warehouse Management Solution etc. This role involves strengthening COE team and ensuring the successful implementation of SAP solutions across the organization by provides deep specialist guidance and support in their specific specialties (e.g. HANA, S/4 suite, SAP Business suite (ERP, BW/BI, APO, PI), SAP SaaS Solutions (BTP, SSF) etc.)

• Develop and Enhance SAP technical solutions: Lead the creation of new SAP landscape and Implementation of SAP by replacing existing non-SAP solutions / Business need. This includes defining and designing landscape in alignment with overall IT landscape and strategy, review and understand business needs and using all information propose best landscape “analyze business/technical needs and translate processes into practice through the current Information Technology tool sets.”
• Define, design, and deliver SAP architectural designs: Provide architectural quality assurance across multiple programs to ensure overall solution. Oversee the design and implementation of SAP solutions, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure. Ensure adherence to SAP architectural standards and best practices. Promote the adoption of SAP best practices and innovative solutions to improve business processes. Design and implement integration solutions using SAP BTP iPaaS capabilities to the extent possible to ensure we use latest technology.
• Manage technical architecture analysis, research, design, and development: Ensure integration with key applications and services within the SAP ecosystem. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of SAP systems, including performance monitoring, optimization, and issue resolution. Ensure all SAP solutions are secure and compliant with internal standards and external regulations. Develop and optimize interfaces for real-time and batch integration across SAP and non-SAP system. Leverage SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, Open Connectors, API Management for building robust and scalable integration solutions.
• Provide architecture and design guidance: Guide development and functional teams to configure and implement solutions according to SAP standards and best practices. Leverage common technical elements and avoid duplication of work. This also includes testing approach, data governance and Go Live activities. Translate business needs into technical designs and integration workflows.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders: Act as a liaison between the business team, IT team, and SAP partners. Establish and enforce governance frameworks to ensure compliance with SAP standards and policies. Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the project manager. Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.

Maintain advanced level technical certification: Stay updated by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and taking part in professional programs.

• Continuous monitoring and improvement: Monitor the system continuously and address both immediate and long-term issues. Identify potential issues and propose new solutions. Be a proactive leader by monitoring trends, identifying potential process improvements, understanding and education on new technologies, impacting the Business group by driving transformational change using IT solutions.
• Team building and mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of developers in ABAP, Fiori, UI5, and NW portal projects and Web Dynpro

Required Experience and Skills:

• Must have 15+ years of overall SAP experience with strong functional knowledge of Sales, Manufacturing or other Enterprise processes using SAP.
• Minimum of 5 years prior experience in managing a large-scale SAP related programs in the capacity of Technical Lead or Technical Solution Architect
• SAP S4/Hana – At least 2-3 Implementation Projects
• Should have good experience in Design, develop, and implement robust ABAP solutions to meet business requirements including Fiori Catalogues and Tiles, Fiori applications and UI5 user interfaces using Web IDE and BTP , BADI’s/BAPI’s
• Strong knowledge of SAP Products / modules (e.g., ERP, CRM, S/4HANA), ABAP programming, and other SAP technologies.
• SAP architecture design. Experience in SAP Delivery, Experience in the SAP Ecosystem - Understanding of architectural patterns, integration technologies, and cloud computing.
• Design and implement integration solutions using SAP BTP iPaaS capabilities.
• Significant hands-on SAP experience in on premise cloud and public cloud solutions architecture.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers in ABAP, Fiori, UI5, and NW portal projects and Web Dynpro
• Conduct code reviews, ensure best practices, and maintain coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ABAP and associated technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and optimize interfaces for real-time and batch integration across SAP and non-SAP system. Leverage SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, Open Connectors, API Management for building robust and scalable integration solutions
• Translate business needs into technical designs and integration workflows.
• Ensure integration comply with organizational security standards, regulatory guidelines (e.g., GxP, HIPAA), and industry best practices.
• Manage data flow governance and error handling mechanisms.
• Knowledge of SAP Functional Modules and Integration aspect from technical point of view

Prefered Skills:

• Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or life science industry strongly preferred.
• Utilize ML and Python skills to develop innovative solutions and enhance existing applications.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration processes to ensure performance, uptime, and data accuracy.
