About this opportunity

Join Ericsson’s IPR & Licensing team as an Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Policy Researcher – Engineer and engage in a dynamic role that bridges technology and policy. This paid internship offers a comprehensive platform to explore the intersections of innovation, technology, and IP rights.

You’ll get the opportunity to

  • Educational Outreach: Help academics, policy makers and broad audiences understand how Ericsson’s contributions drive innovation.
  • Simplification of Complex Information: Translate complex technical texts into clear, accessible content.
  • Research and Analysis: Explore emerging issues at the intersection of new technologies and IP rights.
  • Content Creation: Draft several brief papers, infographics, presentations, and support others in doing so.
  • Skill Development: Participate in a series of workshops designed to enhance both soft and hard skills, including: Effective presentation and debate techniques, Writing for academic and policy audiences, Conflict management, Business English communication, and Understanding cellular standards, AI and open-source environments.

Key skills

  • Educational Background: Applicants should possess a degree in engineering, or be engaged in the final year of the degree. Preference would be given to telecommunications, network, software, electrical/electronic and systems engineers. A strong interest in policy, intellectual property rights and new technologies is highly desirable.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Candidates must have outstanding interpersonal abilities along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. The capacity to thrive within a diverse, multicultural team is essential.
  • Personal Attributes: We are looking for highly motivated and creative individuals who are committed team players.

Eligibility

Applicants must have the legal right to work in Germany (e.g., EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship or an existing German work permit). Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Documentation required: Candidates should submit their CV and a writing sample in English (minimum 6 pages) via the 'Upload Resume' and 'Attach Cover Letter' fields, respectively. The sample may be an academic or policy-oriented paper. To ensure a fair and unbiased review process, the writing sample must not include the candidate’s name or institutional affiliation.
