Vendor Management Intern– Onsite: Tampa, FL
The Vendor Management team within Ashley Global Retail owns and operates the third-party (3P) business on AshleyFurniture.com, essentially sourcing products that are complementary to those manufactured by Ashley Furniture Industries. Vendor Managers operate as buyers and category managers, effectively leading the strategy for their individual categories through leveraging Ashley's 3P vendor base to build out product assortments.
What Will You Do?
During the course of your summer internship with the Vendor Management team you'll do the following:
- Support our Vendor Managers on day-to-day tactical items - This includes everything from making product content level corrections in our product information management (PIM) system to doing analysis of our weekly business results. You'll gain hands on experience of the Vendor Management role and a lot of exposure to what it takes to run an e-commerce business at a major retailer.
- Conduct competitive analyses and present category level recommendations - You'll conduct competitive research across different opportunity categories, service offerings, and more! This will include online research as well as visits to brick-and-mortar stores. These types of research projects are a core part of how we make informed decisions for the business about how we can add more value for our customers and remain relevant in the marketplace.
- Lead a full catalog 3P product taxonomy audit - In partnership with a Vendor Manager, you'll be working to ensure the product classification metadata associated with all products in the 3P catalog is accurate. This ultimately fuels everything from financial reporting to navigational experiences and marketing feeds.
- Serve as a mock category manager - Throughout your internship you will be assigned a category that you will oversee internally with support from your manager. You'll do weekly business analyses, review assortment recommendations, and explore opportunities for the business through the lens of this category. This will ultimately culminate in a capstone presentation to the Vendor Management team at the end of the summer where you'll present on your findings as the business owner.
Additional activities you'll get exposure to may also include:
- Supporting our product lifecycle management process by tracking and actioning discontinued products
- Collaborating with our vendors and Content Management team on product content updates and enhancements
- Conducting analyses of proposed changes in unit economics whether as a result of cost or price changes
- Assembling a weekly SKU selling report and presenting to our team
- Reviewing our imagery coverage and quality, and addressing opportunities with vendors

What Will You Learn?
On top of gaining experience in a corporate office setting at a major retailer, you'll have the opportunity to learn the following:
- How to approach a weekly business review - We'll teach you how to look at trends in the business, identify opportunities and drive action that translates into results. Additionally, we'll introduce you to how this type of information should be presented.
- How to structure competitive research - You'll learn strategies for exploring and understanding different retail offerings, and how to present the insights you learn back to the business.
- What it means to adopt a business owner mindset - We'll introduce you to the different dynamics at play within an e-commerce business, from sales to sessions and beyond.
- What types of tools and systems you can expect in retail - You'll learn the basics of systems used at Ashley to manage our e-commerce business.
What We Are Looking For:
The following are requirements for this role:
- Currently enrolled college student with an estimated graduation date that falls between December 2025 and June 2026
- Majoring in business administration, marketing, merchandising, supply chain or other related field
- Strong attention to detail
- A high level of comfort analyzing the business
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent)
