At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation, and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams and oversee critical high-voltage transmission line, underground cables and Gas-Insulated Substation (GIS) projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and a proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the development and delivery of essential power infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage engineering teams responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of high-voltage overhead/underground transmission line systems and Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS).
• Provide deep technical guidance and expertise in all aspects of T&D engineering, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and standards.
• Effectively plan, execute, monitor, and control complex engineering projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery while meeting stringent quality requirements.
• Build, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment focused on professional development.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, contractors, and other key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
• Proactively identify potential risks associated with T&D projects and develop and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Establish and oversee robust quality assurance and quality control processes to guarantee the integrity and reliability of all engineering deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE), with a strong emphasis on Saudi Arabian national standards and regulations relevant to transmission and distribution.
• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges and make sound technical decisions under pressure.
• Champion a strong safety culture within the engineering teams and ensure the incorporation of sustainable engineering principles in all project phases, with awareness of local safety regulations and environmental considerations in Saudi Arabia.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Significant experience specifically managing engineering teams and projects related to high-voltage transmission lines, underground cables and Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS).
• Comprehensive understanding of the engineering principles, design methodologies, construction techniques, and maintenance practices for GIS substations and overhead/underground transmission line systems.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in building, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse groups.
• Experience working with key entities in the Saudi Arabian power sector (e.g., Saudi Electricity Company) is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with T&D projects.
• Experience in implementing and overseeing quality assurance and quality control processes.
• Strong familiarity with international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE), with a strong understanding of Saudi Arabian national standards and regulations.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• A strong commitment to safety and sustainability in engineering practices.
