The Opportunity:
We’re currently looking for a Cost Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the FP&A Manager, this role is responsible for managing and analyzing the costs associated with our manufacturing processes and requires a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, analyze fixed and variable rate assignments, and the ability to analyze overhead rates. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who’s passionate about numbers, manufacturing, and contributing to a greater mission.
What You’ll Do:
Cost Tracking & Analysis
- Monitor and analyze the cost of raw materials, labor, and overhead for our organic supplements.
- Maintain accurate standard cost models for products and processes.
- Perform cost variance analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.
Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory control and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Report on inventory trends, including slow-moving and obsolete items.
- Collaborate with auditors during physical inventory and cycle count reviews.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Partner with operations and finance teams to develop cost forecasts and budgets.
- Analyze variances and make data-driven recommendations to adjust spending.
Product Costing
- Calculate the true cost of goods sold (COGS) across our product categories.
- Ensure accurate batch-level cost tracking (labor, packaging, materials).
Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to production and cost.
- Provide actionable insights to management based on financial data.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through efficiency enhancements.
- Support pricing strategy development based on cost data and market trends.
What You Bring:
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- CPA or CMA a plus.
Experience
- 2–3 years in cost accounting, ideally within manufacturing or food supplements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (IFS preferred) and Excel.
Skills
- Deep understanding of cost accounting, BOMs, routings, and standard costing.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
