Job Summary

Must be eligible for Work Study Summer 2025. This is a position with an off campus agency. The Summer Program Monitor will support the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan by working with program coordinators who are responsible for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) under the leadership of the program manager. This role acts as a liaison between the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and its sponsored program sites. The Summer Program Monitor is also responsible for reviewing their assigned sites? adherence to USDA, MDE and Food Bank of Eastern Michigan policies and procedures. The Summer Program Monitor is also responsible for reviewing their assigned sites? adherence to USDA, MDE and Food Bank of Eastern Michigan policies and procedures.

Responsibilities*

• Ensure open communication between the agency and their Summer Food Service Sites.
• Conduct and coordinate site reviews for 10-25 Agency sponsored sites.
• Collect paperwork daily/weekly from assigned sites.
• Ensure each site is civil rights compliant.
• Operate program under safe food handling guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with sites to order proper number of meals each day.
• Assist with filing and program auditing.
• Conduct fun activities for the children along assigned mobile route each Friday as well as assist with nutrition bag distribution.
• Deliver food to sites when necessary.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance, as this role is predominantly offsite.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to support data collection and reporting.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and ability to multitask.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Available Monday through Thursday 9:00am-2:30pm, Fridays 9:30am-3:30pm.
• Must be eligible for Work Study Summer 2025.

Desired Qualifications*

• Culinary/food service experience would be advantageous.
• Experience with children and/or school groups preferred.
• Students pursuing degrees in Education, Communications, Public Health, Social Work, or Child Development may find this role most beneficial, but all will be considered.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
