Your Team Responsibilities

  • The Team is responsible for the preparation of VAT/GST returns (including OSS returns) for filing in countries in which MSCI operates in EMEA, Asia Pacific and the Americas and in countries where MSCI is required to register as non-resident service supplier, VAT gl account reconciliation, ensuring timely submission and payment of VAT/GST returns, cooperation with other teams (Tax, AP, Billing, Accounting, IT, Legal, Sales and Coverage) , providing internal VAT advice, assisting in VAT/GST audits, participating in process improvement and tax automation projects, answering vendor, customer VAT related queries, monitoring and implementing legislative changes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Managing VAT/GST driven projects, including VAT/GST legislative changes (e.g. e-invoicing, real time reporting), foreign VAT registrations, ERP system and tax engine updates, VAT ‘health check’, Foreign VAT recovery, risk and opportunity analysis, automation and process improvement and VAT/GST aspects of business projects.
  • Monitoring VAT legislative changes, new compliance and foreign VAT registration requirements, creating impact analysis, action plan and ensure systems, processes and internal controls are up to date.
  • Preparing VAT/GST returns and EC sales reports according to the country specific rules and VAT GL account reconciliations, interim maternity cover for certain VAT/GST returns.
  • Participating in VAT audits
  • Keeping contact with other Teams and providing advice on VAT/GST matters
  • Making VAT/GST technical judgements
  • Ensuring internal control, process and KPI requirements are met

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Masters or Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
  • Solid knowledge of EU VAT directive and rules. Experience in VAT/GST compliance in other jurisdictions is a plus
  • 5+ years relevant experience in VAT advisory and/or in-house VAT compliance
  • Attention to detail is an essential part of the job
  • Good English knowledge and communication skills
  • SAP experience - knowledge of a VAT software (e.g. Vertex) experience in e-invoicing is a plus
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Time management & organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
