Description

The testing engineer is a key member of the ETE engineering group. The role will proactively collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to improve and expand our production system. The role will focus on improving key metrics including safety, quality, labor, and cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans for automatic transmissions.
  • Collect and analyze test data using data acquisition systems and software tools.
  • Document test results, create detailed technical reports, and present findings to engineering and quality teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and contribute to the development of best practices in testing.
  • Ensure that all testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained. Troubleshoot and resolve any equipment issues.
  • Design and build automatic transmission testing equipment to validate build quality of remanufactured assemblies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of testing procedures, results, and modifications made during the testing process.
  • Partner with on-site EHS to ensure all equipment meets safety regulations compliant with OSHA.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive component or system testing
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, testing standards, and validation processes
  • Experience with data acquisition tools (NI LabVIEW, TestStand, CANalyzer, or similar)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understand operational theory of automatic transmissions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with transmission, powertrain, or drivetrain testing.
  • Experience with testing equipment specific to automotive transmissions.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electronics, and software used in modern automatic transmissions.
