Purpose of the Position:
Under general supervision, this position defines the process standards for the Body-in White build process. The position will define and improve processes in order to meet safety, quality, efficiency and cost targets. A special focus will be placed on robot programming and cycle time optimization.
Essential Functions: Program Kuka robots for cycle time optimization, quality improvements, and standardization between modules and models.
Update standards for robot programming for different joining technologies, i.e., sealer, spot welding, stud welding, MIG brazing, etc.
Monitor and evaluate existing processes to ensure a high level of safety, quality, and line throughput is maintained.
Lead problem solving activities in cross functional groups.
Plan and implement product changes in the process, equipment, tooling, etc.
Manage trials and changes in the lines.
Manage shop throughput by analyzing cycle times, variant management, and Work in Process standards.
Assist in training for production and maintenance team members.
Manage and coordinate outside contractor activities.
Continuously improve the performance of manned and automated stations in the shop.
Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to management, including your supervisor, or the Safety Department. Work safely 100% of the time.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Education:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):Automotive Body Shop, Paint Shop, or similar manufacturing environment
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Programming of Kuka (or similar) robots
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of any of the following body shop technologies: stud welding, spot welding, sealing/gluing, MIG welding, impact joining, riveting, vision systems, and confix joining.
Ability to train others in programming skills/techniques.
