Junior Underwriter IFL

Joining AXA XL as an Underwriter IFL you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients to provide an innovative and bespoke underwriting service.
In your underwriting role you will be part of the UW Financial Lines team, focusing on Professional Indemnity and cyber products. You will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated range of clients across the book, working with brokers and clients in support of the profitable growth of a portfolio in line with the agreed Business Plan, as well as developing high quality levels of relationships with brokers, clients and internal functions.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.
WHAT you’ll be DOING
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Underwriting Professional Indemnity and cyber products with a specific focus on Professional Indemnity: reviewing submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate risk analysis (including financial analysis) to determine the degree of risk for each account, while ensuring profitability.
- Proactively advising, assisting, servicing and following up with brokers on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
- Developing relationships with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are achieved. Negotiating premiums, terms and conditions with brokers.
- Monitoring client portfolio performance; identifying strength and weaknesses and seeking, identifying and developing opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers.
- Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
- Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Industry knowledge and awareness of factors affecting this market
- Few years of experience in insurance sector will be highly evaluated
- Able to communicate and work in English and Italian
- Curiosity and willingness to learn and start the professional journey to become Underwriter
- Relationship Skills: manage relationship with other parties involved, understand stakeholders’ needs and identifies points of agreement.
- Selling and negotiation techniques: adapt to the customer's situation, needs and behavior. Explores different alternatives and influence the other parties to reach an agreement with win-win solutions.
- Analytical thinking: performing fact and data-based analyses of situations or issues. Make swift and efficient data-based decisions and keep the focus on goals over time.
- Teamwork: collaborate with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
- Appreciate and propose new and creative ideas, taking practical considerations into account.
