Work Location: Can be based out of Linthicum, MD; Hagerstown, MD; Landover, MD or Middletown, PA

Job Summary

The Training & Development Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering training and professional development programs for Security Officers, Supervisors, and other personnel. This role is instrumental in shaping the knowledge and capabilities of our workforce to meet company standards and customer expectations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can lead training initiatives independently and in collaboration with operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with line management to define training goals, develop objectives, and execute comprehensive training strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with legally mandated training, internal policies, and contractual service obligations.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and collaborate with managers to identify and prioritize learning gaps.
  • Develop training policies, content, and schedules tailored to specific job roles, client needs, and operational timelines.
  • Deliver and coordinate a variety of instructional formats, including classroom, on-the-job, virtual, and blended learning.
  • Create and maintain training materials such as manuals, handbooks, evaluation tools, multimedia content, and simulations.
  • Train and support field instructors and supervisors on effective instructional techniques and program delivery.
  • Maintain training records, track performance metrics, and generate reports to assess training impact.
  • Support special projects and tasks as needed across local or regional offices.
  • Conduct First Day of Work Orientation for new hires and deliver Maryland Security Guard requirement training.
  • Assist with administrative duties including maintaining spreadsheets, filing, managing uniform rooms, and ensuring compliance.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years of prior Police, Law Enforcement, Military, or Security Guard experience per Maryland State requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree + 1 year of relevant training experience
  • OR Associate’s Degree + 3 years of progressively responsible training experience
  • OR Equivalent combination of education and experience

Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Proficiency in delivering training to diverse audiences using various modalities
  • Strong presentation, communication, and group facilitation skills
  • High level of interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to build rapport across all employee levels
  • Ability to design needs-based training aligned with operational and client-specific requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams; tech-savvy and comfortable with digital tools
  • Effective in prioritizing and managing multiple training projects concurrently
  • Adaptability to evolving training technologies and company procedures

Schedule

  • Typical hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Occasional evenings or weekends may be required based on business needs
