Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The mechanical engineering group is searching for a candidate to complement our talented team. We are looking for an individual to lead, design, and provide advanced solutions for integration into our autonomous systems. System and subsystem designs include but are not limited to military and commercially available oceanography products. As a mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for the completion of product life cycle analysis and the development of technical data packages on new and existing designs. Working in a cross-functional design team the candidate will be responsible for bringing designs through first article, test, integration, and delivery to manufacturing. Applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to research, develop, design, and test verified design solutions. Providing support to both engineering and manufacturing in all design phases.

Responsibilities

  • Support both new development and manufacturing efforts in mechanical design and implementations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in material selection for underwater applications with corrosion considerations, structural analysis (finite element desired), electronic packing, CAD, and solid work modeling (SolidWorks).
  • Communicate designs and issues to each corresponding department.
  • Research, develop, and plan designs of mechanical and electromechanical products for underwater applications.
  • Oversee and coordinate activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Support both Sales and Marketing Departments with engineering special quotes.
  • Provide documentation for manufacturing support and design.
  • Estimate labor and cost of materials for designs and applications.
  • Build prototypes and test fixtures for new designs or update existing designs and products.
  • Perform project management duties as assigned.
  • Communicate and support the efforts of each department with mechanical designs and implementations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ Years of Experience
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and/or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)
  • Manufacturing experience with underwater autonomous vehicles
  • Knowledge of Enterprise PDM (EPDM) in support of 3D modeling tools.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual that can work in a fast-paced environment; with high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to multi-task and an enthusiastic attitude.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $78.00/hr.
